Ways to Practice Self-Care
Self-care is much more than a buzzword
The struggle to achieve work-life balance has never been so difficult. Working from home has created new challenges and has blurred the separation of work and home. This is especially true for those of us working out of small spaces!
Prioritizing your self-care should not be a chore and doesn’t need to take up hours of your day!
Here are a few simple changes I have made to help me take care of my mind and body:
Set aside 10 minutes in the morning
This time can be used for stretching, meditating, taking care of your skin, or anything that will make you feel good! Before you open Instagram or look through emails, give yourself a few minutes to wake up and get ready for the day.
2. Exercise daily
Schedule time to exercise daily, or else you will find yourself making excuses to push it off. Find exercises you enjoy doing! Whether it is biking, walking, yoga, tennis or a HIIT workout, try to get your blood flowing and heart rate up every day.
Tip: A stylish and comfortable workout set will get you in the mood to work out! Check out one of our favourite brands, TITIKA.
3. Be your own cheerleader
Don’t let yourself focus on what you have not achieved, but acknowledge your successes, both big and small. Find a reason to celebrate something every day!
4. De-clutter (physically and mentally)
There are many things for you to clean out. Your email inbox, bedside table, closet, etc. Take time to declutter anything you don’t use anymore and dispose of it responsibly! Use this opportunity to donate extra clothes, sheets and towels, and only keep what you need.
Cleaning your spaces will not only declutter your physical space, but also your mind. Use the same energy when you get rid of physical items to remove negative thoughts from your mind.
Mindfulness is about focusing on what you can control and what is in front of you. You’ve got this!
